Scarborough Rips Trump's Silence Over Kentucky Shooting: Just Can't Be a 'Decent Human Being'

Joe Scarborough was unsatisfied with President Trump’s silence on yesterday’s school shooting in Kentucky.
Marshall County High School was sent into chaos yesterday after a 15-year-old student opened fire with a handgun, killing two of his classmates and wounding over a dozen others. As Morning Joe reported on the incident today, Scarborough duly noted that Trump chose not to make a statement about this yesterday, even though he and other Republicans found time to talk about the FBI’s supposed corruption and the missing text messages from Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.
“Why is the President of the United States doing that instead of focusing on his job, which is not only be the Commander-in-Chief, but as we learned from Ronald Reagan and others, the Comforter-in-Chief,” Scarborough asked.
As Willie Geist proposed several explanations for why Trump didn’t say anything, Scarborough brought up how often Trump rushes to condemn other mass casualty events like terrorism, even when the facts are not completely clear. Scarborough insisted that this wasn’t about gun control, but more that Trump would rather talk about the FBI than expressing sympathy over the shooting.
“You look at the number of school shootings, you look at the number of Americans that are killed by gunfire, acts of terror in this country pale in comparison, and yet, he’s obsessed on that,” said Trump. “I am calling for human decency here, and he just cannot bring himself to be a decent human being when students are being gunned down in classrooms.”
