"Two people familiar with the matter told NBC News that Trump learned two days after the interview that Flynn had spoken with the FBI, which was set up hours before it took place by deputy FBI director Dan McCabe and a White House scheduler.
The scheduler didnt ask the reason for the meeting and the FBI didnt offer an explanation, one source told NBC News.
No one knew that any of this was happening, said another senior White House official who was in the administration at the time."

By saying Yates alerted White House, they're claiming Trump team knew nothing about Flynn talking to Russians? But why would anyone choose to believe team trump at this point? It is very suspicious.

(111,069 posts)Sally Yates told the WH lawyer about it, that has been reported. Did he not tell anyone?
Also, does anyone think Flynn would have done anything without the approval or knowledge of Donald Trump?
Something fishy about this story, I agree.

(5,268 posts)not that none of Trump's people knew he had talked to Kislyak. Earlier reports and the court papers related to Flynn's plea deal have already established that several WH officials including Flynn's assistant KT MCFarlane knew all about Flynn talking to Kislyak about sanctions and there are emails proving that.
Per NY Times: Dec 4 2017
"Court documents released on Friday, along with Mr. Flynns guilty plea, indicate that senior members of Mr. Trumps transition team were well aware of his discussions with the Russian ambassador about the Obama administrations sanctions. Mr. Flynn talked to Mr. Kislyak by phone on Dec. 29, the day the sanctions took effect, and several days later.
In her email to another transition official hours before the first phone call, Ms. McFarland described President Barack Obamas decision to expel 35 Russian diplomats as a last-minute attempt to discredit Mr. Trumps victory, box him in diplomatically and provoke him into a potentially politically damaging statement in Russias defense.
General Flynn is talking to the Russian ambassador this evening, she wrote.
She also wrote: If there is a tit-for-tat escalation, Trump will have difficulty improving relations with Russia which has just thrown U.S.A. election to him.
