The Private Sector Never Has And Never Will Fulfill The Needs Of Veterans

The private sector never has met the needs of veterans when it comes to hiring. The fact that we see so many employers fire or lay off so many National Guard who have served actively serves as on lesson about the commitment they have to veterans' issues. Many veterans who were disabled during the Vietnam found meaningful employment in government jobs where at least there there was some preference.

The GOP austerity program that supports the end of government as we know it ends up laying off thousands upon thousands of veterans. Their attack of the Post Office also ends up with many veterans in the unemployment line. The business community in this country only plays lip service to veterans as it waves the flag.

How do I know this, well the 24 years with DOL proved to me that the private sector is nothing but a bunch of fakers. My former company commander in Vietnam was a Personnel Manager at Coors who retired as a general officer in the National Guard. He was a decorated combat vet. Well Coors laid him off to save money. I was his company clerk while he was in command of my company in Vietnam.

PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT. She was a special needs aide. How would that translate to private business?
