Rosanna Arquette says female agents told her to 'keep mouth shut' about Weinstein

In a recent interview with NextTribe, actress Rosanna Arquette says that certain female agents in Hollywood pushed her to keep silent about her claim that Harvey Weinstein sexually assaulted her.

The longtime star of TV and Film, credits Weinstein with landing her career in the "gutter" by telling producers and directors about town that she was a "pain in the ass" after she got away from his predatory advances.

"Look what happened to us," Arquette explains, referring to so many great actresses affected by Weinstein's alleged sexual assaults, a list that includes stars like Mira Sorvino, Daryl Hannah, Asia Argento and Rose McGowan. "The years of work we could have done! Now we're middle-aged women."

Arquette alleges that Weinstein tried to sexually assault her in the 1990s, and explained to NextTrbie that "I told people in the industry about my experience with Harvey in the hotel that day. I didn't hide it. When I told them, I would hear, 'I'd keep my mouth shut about that if I were you' — even from female agents. I heard that warning and thought, 'OK, no one is going to believe me. My words will get back to him. I'm [expletive]!'"

The actress added that "Maybe Harvey would be at a dinner party and say .?.?. 'Don't work with her. She's a pain in the ass.' He had the power to do that .?.?. I went from being an A-list actress in America to down in the gutter."

She also laments at how "So many directors have recently said, 'I really wanted you for that role' .?.?. And so many people — agents and producers and managers — were complicit."

Look at all the white women who voted for the Fucking Moron. I am a woman and I realized this year that I am a misogynist since I hate women who do not stand up for other women. They know better yet they do it over and over.

I work with two women on the executive committee of my union and to my astonishment, both of them think some of these stories are made up. Never mind that there is a vetting process the media goes through, and little do they know that considerable numbers of stories are rejected because they can't pass the particular newspaper or magazine's vetting process. One of the requirements of the vetting process is did the woman tell anyone about the harassment or abuse back at the time it happened.

Then I ask what is the motive? Why would any woman do this. One of them actually said the women enjoyed the attention.

Who would want to associate themselves with that kind of attention?

Another complaint of these two women is why now? Why did they wait so long? I responded that now there is a climate that is receptive--before they were just branded liars.

One woman's husband is a former detective and she told me that her husband routinely dismissed rape complaints as "stories" and never recorded any of them. He just dismissed these women. Imagine--20 years this guy worked for the department and he never accepted one rape case.

I don't know what is wrong with these people, really, I don't.

I hope they are given some opportunities and get back into their careers.

They lost many years but they still have many years also.
