Trump fires Rosenstein - the Republicans in Congress back him up. They are able to sell the idea that Rosenstein overstepped his authority. He is replaced by a Trump lackey. The Trump lackey fires Mueller - ending the investigation. The Republicans roll over.

(31,109 posts)I think that is exactly what is going to happen, Rosenstein during the super bowl is fired and Mueller the next day and I dont think there is jack we can do about it.
Now some folks are HAPPY about this, of course. But you and I are not and I wanted to talk to you about it.
I know this will happen, what I now want to know is what does the country do about it? When Mueller is fired the guy running the show will pull the funds for the team thus destroying the investigation.
I hate that this is gonna happen.
The memo could say "roses are red, violets are blue, Rosenstein misbehaved" and nothing else and it will be used as an excuse.
We are assuming the WH or nunes or whatever will use logic or reason, they wont. They are going to do this. And I am REALLY pissed at people who bad mouthed HILLARY

(1,451 posts)should be removed. Paul Ryan is going out with a rich bang!! he is spineless.

(9,670 posts)We've judged this all wrong. We've watched Nunes flailing about and he makes a great target for our ire.
Make no mistake, Paul Ryan is the head of the snake here. Nunes has followed his orders. Remember where Nunes went before that crazy press conference at the White House? That's right: to Paul Ryan's office.
They both need to go down as co-conspirators. The rot in the GOP is extensive and starts at the top.

(50,248 posts)Mueller must be looking at Nunes as part of the conspiracy. It seems pretty clear he's up-to-his-neck involved.

(111,069 posts)Up to now, they have refused to let the Justice Dept see it, by saying it is "separation of powers"? But how could it be separation of powers if they are all in the Executive Branch??

and
2. If released would quickly be laughed at and picked apart like other deep state and secret society RW fantasies.

(58,724 posts)I've had so many incorrect predictions over the years - it's a relief to get one right now and then!
Edit to add: There is no underestimating the awfulness of today's Republicans!

(45,464 posts)I think they are truly pathetic - that's why I was relatively confident in my prediction in the first place.

(5,268 posts)The leaking of the stories started last Thursday that will prevent their corrupt scheme from playing out as you predicted, since we now know that Trump ordered the undermining of FBI and Justice Dept officials not long after Trump ordered Mueller's firing. Although the Mueller firing didn't occur, the smearing of Comey, McCabe, Mueller's team and Peter Strzok (who was one of the FBI agents who interviewed Flynn) has occurred. Now Rosenstein is the target and Trump has urged the memo to be released that would give him a phony case to fire Rosenstein, similar to phony case Trump made against Comey and phony case he wanted to make against Mueller. Everything is strengthening the case for Trump obstructing justice.
This Nunes memo is clearly discredited by the fact that original warrant against Carter Page occurred because he was under FBI surveillance long before the Steele dossier or the Trump campaign, because of his contacts with Russian operatives, so Rosenstein wasn't conducting politicized surveillance of Trump campaign staff.

(6,346 posts)Itll never be released by the republicans. May see the light of day by the Dems but its much more valuable to republicans as a boggie man hiding in the closet than it would be in the public domain.
This is just a tool to stoke fear among the faithful cult of trump followers.

(3,515 posts)I have a better solution. Why don't the Republicans govern for a change and amend the FISA law to prevent abuses if they think abuses occurred.
Republicans should be challenged to do their job. I believe they just extended the FISA law without significant changes. They are lazy bums who are not taking care of the country. They only care about their donors and no one else.

(3,515 posts)some sane Republicans to the memo. This is actually an opportunity to allow Republicans to demonstrate how incompetent they are at governing.
