Downthread, you say that these are the facts. Do you have anything to support that claim?

(146,192 posts)I was wondering if I had missed something, perhaps.
McCabe's sudden departure is puzzling, I think, but I have no idea exactly what is going on yet.

Everything's left for us to guess.

(146,192 posts)I was hoping the OP actually had some new information. Apparently not, though.
We're all just waiting to see what shakes out.

(9,766 posts)those are the facts. Wray saw the memo yesterday. Today, McCabe is out.
I have no idea what to think or why. It astounds me that some here ignore basic facts and are evidently threatened by discussing them.

(146,192 posts)Causation would be really important, if it exists.
So, you don't know. OK. Your facts aren't enough for conclusion drawing at this point, though.

(9,766 posts)I never said I knew. My OP clearly says 'WTF".
Which means what the fuck is going on?
God god.

(4,603 posts)It's possible there was something in the memo that caused Wray to panic and push McCabe out faster, but it's highly unlikely since Wray already had access to almost anything that could be in the memo.

(1,819 posts)It's been reported in the news the past few days that Trump has been fuming over Mueller.
Every time Trump goes into a tantrum/panic over the Russian invetigation he fires the FBI director. The memo's are just cover for him firing yet another FBI director.

(5,267 posts)"CNN previously reported that McCabe, who is eligible to retire in March, told other senior FBI officials months ago that he planned to retire in the near future. Under FBI rules governing accumulated leave, he may be able to exit earlier."

Looks to me like just a coincidence and that McCabe is leaving on his own terms, not being forced out the way Comey was forced out abruptly. The rightwingers are spreading the rumor that McCabe did something wrong or suspect that was exposed by the Nunes memo. However, evidence does not indicate any such thing, since he was already expected to leave earlier than March due to accumulated leave as the CNN article stated last week. Standard procedure for employees to stop work several weeks before their official retirement date, using accumulated sick and vacation time. I left Federal service a month before my official retirement date, using my leave abruptly without giving anyone but my immediate supervisor advance notice because of conditions in my office where I wanted out ASAP, but the timing was entirely my decision.
