Joe Scarborough completely loses it over his own party releasing false and reckless memo none have readIn a scathing opener, Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough was ruthless in his criticism of the Republican Party, for which Scarborough once represented in Congress.
You had [Rep. Devin] Nunes (R-CA) memo, which twists the truth and plays these crude political games with highly secret intelligence, Scarborough said. Mika, most of the Republicans who voted to release this controversial memo, that the Justice Department said would be extraordinarily reckless, had never even read the memo. And many who did read Nunes memo say it falsely summarized a reality and filled with all of these falsehoods and these, these misleading conclusions, all in an attempt to slur law enforcement officers, that Donald Trump I dont know how I should say this, hes targeted them for a political purge.
Scarborough noted that Trump cant seem to get out of his own way and today should be about his first State of the Union Address, instead its become about the Nunes memo

The United States government better get a handle on Trump and his corruption. He is about to proceed with a coup. The Russians are ready to run the gambit in 2018 elections.

(347 posts). . . can the ". . . United States government better get a handle on Trump and his corruption. " ???? How are we to get a handle on Trump??
Arrest him? Who? How?
Impeach him? Never happen -- Congress controls impeachment and has anyone checked lately to see who controls Congress?
Assassinate him? Never happen..
The fact is, back in 1973, then-federal-judge, later Supreme Court Justice, Lewis Powell wrote a memo describing exactly how Republicans could take over the federal and state governments and never lose control. They followed the Powell game plan and here we are.
I'm 73. My grandchildren don't have a chance. This was a great place to live but is now sliding into banana republic shithole status.

(32,634 posts)Is it available online anywhere? Could you possibly provide a link?
I'm 66 and I feel the same way as you, regarding my 10-year-old grandson's future. We have to work very hard right now this year, or it's going to be hopeless for our grandchildren.

(10,270 posts)Google search Powell Memo pdf, it should be at the top of the list.
Basicly, it offers instructions on how to buy yourself an American government if you're a billionaire/corporation.

(11,855 posts)They are 9 and 12, young women. What awaits them in adulthood? I have been a women's rights, civil rights, LGBTQ rights advocate for forty years.
My senior high term paper in 1971, was about Abbie Hoffman, and the 1968 Chicago Democratic Convention.
I will not stand idly by as all of the progress we have worked for is torn down.

(5,801 posts)Never say Never. I'm sure JFK was not thinking he would be assassinated, yet he got in a convertible. History tends to repeat itself. I'm sure Mussolini never thought he would be hanging upside down in the middle of a plaza. Anwar Sadat was just officiating a military parade. I don't condone it, but then I would hope it never would happen, but there are strange people in this world.

Another thought, the US Intelligence agency has played a lot of dirty actions on foreign countries/politicians. I wonder at what point they will take a stand against Trump and the Republicans for what they are doing to our country. Trump and his allies might find out that they don't really play the game as well as they think they do. Our own intelligence agency might have the assistance of their allies from abroad to take their work internationally in order to obtain domestic results.

(6,399 posts)As much as I enjoy watching the show, he still barely mentions Democrats at all outside of poking at Hillary with the server as a contrast to what the Republicans are up to. He's certainly not promoting democrats. He's just furious at the Party of Reagan being involved in all of this.

(6,399 posts)It's a bizarre world to be sure. Watching the opening segment in the morning and seeing him along with a range of interesting guests pretty much coming up to the line of wondering of Paul Ryan is being blackmailed or something isn't what I expected out of his program, even a few months ago when his tune changed more dramatically.
