Republicans dont know what evidence Mueller has on Trump, yet

They keep pointificating and insisting there has not been a credible allegation against him. They have no clue what Mueller is looking at. He may or may not charge the President but Republicans seem determined to not let him finish his investigation. Example: Chris Christie's pronounciation of Trump's innocence and saying he shouldnt be interviewed by Mueller.

He even said Mueller knows how to take people apart in interviews, Trump would hang himself.

exactly what Mueller has. It's clear that he has enough to cause a lot of trouble. I think the goal now is to find ways to block Trump's being forced to testify. If they can besmirch the DOJ/FBI enough, I believe they'll protest that Trump can't get a fair hearing and therefore must not testify.

What puzzles me in all of this desperate protection of Trump is the shortsightedness of the Republican strategy. Unless they truly are trying to overthrow our democracy, they must know that come November they will no longer be the majority party and chickens will come home to roost. What can they possibly hope to gain by protecting our loser president now, when his downfall is inevitable?

I hope these Republican colluders imagine the worst as they drift off to sleep at night... in a cold sweat realization that they could be easily tried and punished for their treasons.
