Nancy Pelosi: 'House Republicans crossed from dangerous irresponsibility into the realm of COVER-UP'

“Tonight, the House Republicans crossed from dangerous irresponsibility and disregard for our national security into the realm of cover up. In doing so, they disregarded the warnings of the Justice Department and the FBI."

“Chairman Nunes’ memo contains significant inaccuracies and omissions that misrepresent the underlying intelligence and jeopardize the effectiveness of our intelligence and law enforcement communities. Americans should be deeply concerned by Speaker Ryan’s sanctioning of this irresponsible decision and his complicity in allowing the Committee investigation to devolve into a sad political spectacle.

“President Trump must honor his responsibility as Commander-in-Chief and reject the reckless release of the Nunes memo.

“Republicans must cease their efforts to undermine Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation. House Republicans are engaged in a pattern of abdicating their constitutional responsibilities to the American people. Deliberately, the GOP refused to release the Democrats’ memo. Clearly, they are afraid of the truth.

“I commend Ranking Member Schiff and other Intelligence Committee Democrats for insisting that all documents be reviewed and appropriately redacted before being released. Democrats remain committed to ensuring that the integrity of the Special Counsel and Congressional investigations is not compromised by an unsubstantiated, partisan smear campaign.”

Now, if statements such as these can just break through the bubble on tv "news". The public doesn't get outraged if they don't hear what's going on.

Of course, the latest celebrity gossip will always crowd out attempts to turn the DOJ and FBI into political weapons.

It remains to be seen whether such an obscure politician as Nancy Pelosi can break through and get on the news shows, or whether she'll continue to be shut out because American desperately needs to hear from such giants of Congress as Matt Gaetz, Devin Nunes, and Blake Farenthold.

And the others who are drafting a counter memo?

For their part, committee Democrats called their memo "a counter-argument to all of the errors and inaccuracies in the majority memo" (Rep. Denny Heck of Washington) and "a mountain of evidence in the Trump-Russia investigation" (Rep. Eric Swalwell of California) and "an accurate rendition of the underlying facts" (Schiff).

And right there in the OP so one doesn't even need to click to see it:

“I commend Ranking Member Schiff and other Intelligence Committee Democrats for insisting that all documents be reviewed and appropriately redacted before being released. Democrats remain committed to ensuring that the integrity of the Special Counsel and Congressional investigations is not compromised by an unsubstantiated, partisan smear campaign.”

Why so pessimistic about Democrats that you think it requires "hope" rather than expecting that they will do this?

Not sure what you mean by that.

And I've seen Democrats on social media here on DU speaking up all over the place, so I don't get where you say that you are simply "hopeful" that Democrats will "speak up" like Pelosi did.

job is making statements not just for the 193 Democratic congressmen she is "speaker" for, but the party in general. Good thing I always agree.

Seriously, she's a good person, she's very good at what she does, and I do admire her a great deal. And since Hillary was sabotaged as our first woman president, Nancy is still America's highest-ranked woman politician ever.
