On Tuesdays edition of Morning Joe, political analyst John Heilemann asked a question of Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) that he readily admitted under almost any other circumstances would be ridiculous and absurd, but under these circumstances I think is actually warranted.
Is it possible that the Republican chairman of the House Intel Committee has been compromised by the Russians? Heilemann inquired. Is it possible that we actually have a Russian agent running the House Intel Committee on the Republican side?
The pundit was referring to Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), the man behind the explosive memo that aims to cast doubt on the FBIs handling of the investigation into Russias election meddling.
Doesnt his behavior speak of that though? Heilemann pressed on. Im not the first person whos raised this. Hes behaving like someone whos compromised and there are people in the intelligence community and others with great expertise in this area who look at him and say, That guys been compromised.

(58,785 posts)Like Trump, no one's ever been able to account for Nunes's behavior by normal reasons. It's often bizarre, and he's been taking enormous risks.
Lol. Not long after this administration took office media started compiling time lines to report all his known, highly questionable behaviors, and they've accelerated since. He's high on the list I'm hoping to see in prison.

(2,970 posts)That's why he's freaking out and pulling this memo stunt. They've ALL been under FISA surveillance, their crimes are on record, on tape and the evidence will be indisputable, so they need to delegitimize FISA.

Ds have to call him for what he is.

I will watch the opening act today to determine if any Dems have a spine, or if they clap and fawn. Beyond that, IT will be on mute and I will tune out when he starts speaking.

(3,194 posts)Why are you putting it on Mute? If you insist on watching the opening, PLEASE don't leave it on when Drumpf is talking.
If enough people boycotted, perhaps it would be one of the lowest rated SOTU's ever. One can hope.

(70,490 posts)What is a FISA wiretap?
The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA, signed into law in 1978, requires the government, when eavesdropping on communications on domestic soil for national security purposes, to obtain permission from a judge on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. The judge must agree that the target is probably an agent of a foreign power and will probably use the specific email accounts or phone numbers that the Justice Department wants to wiretap.
What standard must be met to get a FISA wiretap?
To issue a FISA order authorizing investigators to eavesdrop on an American, a judge must agree that there is reason to believe the target was knowingly engaging in clandestine intelligence activities for a foreign power that violate American criminal laws or is knowingly aiding or conspiring with someone else who is doing that.

Nunes knows that he was caught on tape and the info will be damning so his memo is just trying to muddy the waters.

Loyalty to the US govt & its people is first above self enrichment thru Money or Media , or that which aids in the destruction of America.
