BREAKING: Russian News Outlet TASS reports that the Russian Spy Chief, Sergey Naryshkin, who is under US sanctions, entered the US w/ Trump's approval.
No US officials have mentioned this visit & it appears that TASS released this info to retaliate against Trump's sanctions list

Former National Security Council member: Trump was - and is still likely - 'a tool of the Russians'
Russia's goal; "undermining U.S. democracy by polarizing the American constituency"
I think Ill leave that to Bob Mueller to answer, Vinograd replied. What I do think is, we already know from the intelligence community and the entire intelligence community agrees on this is that Donald Trump was Russias preferred candidate. Now that is not because any kind of personal love for Donald Trump. It is because they viewed him and his election as being more preferable to advancing their policies and to advancing their mission again of undermining U.S. democracy by polarizing the American constituency and decreasing American leverage around the world, and that is what Vladimir Putin wants.

(82,849 posts)He's done it before for his Russian comrades, meeting with Lavrov and Kislyak back in May. The only other persons in the room were "photographers" for Russian news agencies. Maybe Naryshkin was called in to change the batteries on the listening devices?

(5,210 posts)to what extent he's a conscious, willing, eager accomplice and active agent is an unknown (to me anyway). But he's definitely an asset, over whom Russia / Putin is holding something.
But then, I also think he has seen over a decade or more how Russia and Putin operate, with Putin's dictatorial powers and his oligarchic army working to do his bidding and Trump wants that for himself too. I think either Putin, some Russian oligarchs or go-betweens (such as Russian diplomats) give Trump ideas on what to do next.

(36,009 posts)True or not, it's still important that TASS's claim might be confirmable by Reuters or the AP if no US officials have "mentioned" it.
