In a Stormy mood': Melania stayed seated and stony-faced during Trump's 'faith and family' remarks

Melania Trump was curiously absent this past week, as her husband traveled to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, although it’s somewhat less curious considering the allegations that have been swirling about Donald Trump’s decade-old affair with adult-film star Stormy Daniels, a.k.a. Stephanie Clifford. After The Wall Street Journal reported that her husband’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, had set up a shell company to pay Clifford $130,000 for her silence during the 2016 election, Melania suddenly canceled her trip to Davos. On Thursday, she made an unannounced visit to the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., before boarding a plane for West Palm Beach, Florida, alone.

On Friday, however, a spokeswoman for Melania Trump aimed to shut down the “salacious & flat-out false reporting” she said was being spread in the media, about the Stormy Daniels story and about insinuations that Melania had dropped off the radar as a result.

“The laundry list of salacious & flat-out false reporting about Mrs. Trump by tabloid publications & TV shows has seeped into ‘main stream media’ reporting,” Stephanie Grisham tweeted. “She is focused on her family & role as FLOTUS — not the unrealistic scenarios being peddled daily by the fake news.” Clifford had detailed the specifics of the affair in an In Touch Weekly interview in 2011 before she’d signed any non-disclosure agreement, noting that Trump “quickly changed the subject” whenever she brought up his wife.
