End Game for the Memo is not Release ... Just Suspicion on DC, Dems and FBI ...

This memo is obviously a pile of bullshit, but it's one 'point' has already been spread far and wide without it even coming out ... to whit: "ZOMG FBI acted in Partisan Way to Go After Trump By Using Hillary-Funded Dossier For Warrants!!! ALL EVIDENCE NOW TAINTED!!!".

Sure, Nunes has gotten the knuckle-draggers dicks hard ... teasing them that finally they were gonna get their LONG DREAMED OF HOPE ... an ACTUAL WASHINGTON DC conspiracy!

But what Nunes and Trump succeeded on without even releasing it (esp. with having a Dem like Schiff bust them for this change to the text) is casting aspersions on the FBI and Democrats in the eyes of the base.

Now the story will be 'The Memo didn't come out' because 'DC FBI Deep State and Dems!' ... that is going to be how they run away from it and never put it out ... and that ... is the final mission accomplished.

They are about nothing but making it so the BASE ... will (perhaps violently) refuse to accept ANY final findings no matter HOW iron-clad it is. Those suckers will be 100% was ALLLLLL a 'political conspiracy'.

No need for the embarrassment of putting it out, though they'll likely agitate for it for that for many more weeks and try to drum up and distraction and controversy around it.

It's really kinda masterful ... in a blood-curdlingly horrifying sort of way. Leni and Goebbels are BEAMING with pride somewhere ...

1. More likely it'll be a big backfire.

If they dont release it, when they have the power to,
it'll be seen as an empty shell. If they do release it,
the Dem memo will find its way out too, and leaks of
facts from the FBI & elsewhere will tear it to shreds.
My bet, either way it's a dud, a fizzle.

2. No one covers the correction or the retraction

I'm siding with the OP. The memo has already done its job in Foxworld. It doesn't matter what it says or if it's written in crayon - THEY have carved it in stone. The main talking point that the whole investigation is corrupted will be repeated, alluded to, and meme'd for years.

The rest of the media will discuss this and may even discount or debunk it but they will mention it. The facts, Dem memo, and all else will at best get an "oh yeah....there's this...." at best.

Legal issues are a whole other matter but that's never been the focus of the memo.

We havent seen anything yet, the memo or the Dem interpretation
or blowback from the FBI. All conjecture. The longer they delay
the release the weaker the memo looks. Nunes has already had to
water it down (without committee approval). They almost have to release
it now, but it has/had such hype about it, it will never live up to it, especially
after the counter-attacks on the memo itself begin. Havent seen a poll
but I bet the FBI has a lot higher favorables than trump. Same for Mueller.
Just like the FBI lover-boy's emails deriding Trump--oops now we find out
he pushed for Hillary's email investigation to be re-opened. That repub attack's
blunted. The only thing that matters at this point is what Mueller does with
what he finds, and the 2018 election. This little jerk-off memo wont affect
those at all. Win the House and impeachment begins. Although God knows
what Trump will have pulled by then. I'm seeing the hopeful side, man,
for my health and my sanity.

unseal a couple of indictments and arrest the subjects.
That would change the news cycle and show the public
that there are crimes being committed.
