Adam Schiff knows what is in the memo and he is pissed . So is the FBI. I can't believe it's nothing.

There are some very serious people who are very serious about preventing it from being released.

There will be nothing damning in there against the Russia investigation that isn’t an obvious product of transparent political hackery.

However the Intel community is concerned it will still blow the lid on intelligence gathering operations so it still has the opportunity to do some real collateral damage.

follow-on for Carter Page, currently a tangential figure in the Russia investigation. Maddow said last night the FBI has been tracking him since 2013. He was named (American male 1) in an indictment, and subsequent trial/conviction, of a couple Russian spies. Carter outed himself as the unnamed Americanmale1. Since Page was travelling around Europe, it's likely UK was involved in helping track him.

Then you have Ryan saying that the memo is just about identifying and fixing a problem with FISA (which they could have fixed with the just-passed reauth of section 702) and has nothing to do with impugning the FBI or DoJ. But, I happened to be watching CNN shortly after they had Lee Zeldin, an R congressman, on. He gave up the game by saying that if there were problems with the warrant then the top DoJ leadership had to go. Read that as a reason to remove Rosenstein.

Then you have Trump dialing up his friends and telling them releasing the memo will make the Russia thing go away.

Now, apparently, Ryan has ok'd the release of the Dem memo which will undermine the Nunes memo.

So I think whatever value releasing the memo will have now is more to give journalists, researchers and historians a better insight into how the process works.
