(17,862 posts)is that Flynn's plea bargain involves a confession for a post-election action (lying to the FBI). I don't know why he didn't go with a charge that involved the campaign that occurred during the election. That would have had considerably more political weight (assuming he had such a charge to use).

better
(884 posts)because the charge Flynn dropped at his feet happened to have occurred post-election. If he'd been caught lying to the FBI during the campaign, I'm pretty sure he would have been charged with it. In short, Mueller played the hand he was dealt.
And, as YessirAtsaFact (great username, by the way!) wisely noted, it's quite possible that Mueller discovered a great deal, including about crimes during the campaign, as a result of flipping Flynn. Flynn's post-election crime, in the context of the OP, was the tip of the iceburg. And just because the tip was post-election doesn't mean everything that can be traced up to it below the waterline was.

(32,579 posts)We don't know yet and Mueller isn't showing his hand. (Smart guy that Mueller.)
When Flynn pled guilty to the single charge it was clearly stated that there may be more later.
