Russ Feingold: Mitt Romney wrong for state, nation

Last week Gov. Scott Walker claimed Mitt Romney’s leadership was what America needs. Well, I have to say I’m not sure which part of Romney’s record Gov. Walker is referring to.

Is it his record as a corporate raider who sent U.S. jobs to countries like Mexico, India and China? Or was Gov. Walker referring to Romney’s failed record as the governor of Massachusetts, where under his leadership Massachusetts fell to 47th in the nation in job creation and Massachusetts residents were left holding the bag with the highest per capita debt in the country?

....

Mitt Romney campaigns on his real business experience. The fact of the matter is that under Mitt Romney’s leadership, Bain Capital pioneered the practice of making money for investors by sending good-paying American jobs overseas.

While Mitt Romney would have you believe he was investing in businesses that hired workers in Wisconsin and across the country, he was actually shuttering factories, laying off workers and sending American jobs to Mexico, India and China.

Making money for the wealthy while throwing the middle class under the bus is a theme for Gov. Romney. While he was governor he raised taxes and fees over $750 million a year, leaving Massachusetts taxpayers with the highest debt per person in the country.
