I think that, when people say stuff like that, they are either:

1. Stupid
2. (in) Denial

My guess is that this might be somebody who doesn't like President Obama and doesn't want him to win being forced to confront the reality that, all things considered, President Obama is polling very well right now and her brain isn't sure how to reconcile these numbers with the right-wing spin that tells her that President Obama is doomed to lose to Mitt Romney in November. So, in response, she desperately spins the story like a top to find a dark cloud of bad news to grasp on to (in order to keep her head from exploding).

for common sense should be given.

No, the really scary poll number for Obama is this one: Only 27 percent of voters think the economy will improve over the next year. That’s down eight points from last month. And that level of economic pessimism is very dangerous for an incumbent.

In fact, it seems almost incredible – the political equivalent of defying gravity – for Obama to have gained ground in the horse race even as Americans’ views on the economy have grown increasingly, alarmingly, sour.

Economic pessimism is only dangerous to an incumbent if the challenger presents a credible plan or policies that are perceived to be better and in the case of Romney there is no there there.

Romney is just a con man presenting the same disastrous, regurgitated policies which brought our nation to this low economic point to begin with, starting with Reagan and reaching its' rabid fruition with Bush the Least.

Thanks for the thread, Marzupialis.

I find it incredible that Michelle Bachmann hasn't been committed.
