NBC Sports - give me a break!

I finally decided to switch from MSNBC, where I was listening amazed at all of today's big news, to watch the Olympics opening ceremony. I love the opening ceremonies. We're now twenty minutes in and nothing but silly puff pieces. Give me a break!

Switching back. Someone let me know if NBC decides to show the opening ceremonies.

appreciating it in the end. I LOVE the Olympics so I'll take em warts and all anyway. Actually this is perfect so it can allow for flipping...like right now for instance.

you're not going to get anything from NBC except what they always deliver: puff pieces and commercials.

Can we get it online? If so how?

I am quite serious. I looked last year to get away from Trump-news and couldn't find a way.

Most of the US coverage is not showing the actual events.

at least twenty years ago was the relative paucity of actual televised events or competitions.

I also, to be honest, have a low interest in any sport, and little knowledge of most of them.

The skill! The strategy! Sweeping ice while yelling at the top of the lungs! What an extraordinary sport.

Yesterday alone I had figure skating, biathlon, curling, snow boarding.... Almost all competitive action. Two TV's and my computer were going. At two points I was watching live coverage with a third taped event that I wanted to see.

It's amazing to me how they are making it ALL available. I would not have been able to fit all of the events NBC broadcast yesterday into a 24 hour period of time with three devices going non-stop. I got to pick what I wanted to watch. All without cable. You can stream the opening ceremonies.

Sometimes when a network is streaming you have to already have a cable provider to sign into the service. Quite annoying, since I don't have a cable provider. But I honestly have such a low interest in the Olympics that I don't feel at all deprived.

I am glad that it's easier for those who want to watch.

And yeah, one other problem about the Olympics is that there are so many competitions happening at the same time that it's quite difficult to catch all of them.

"But I honestly have such a low interest in the Olympics that I don't feel at all deprived. "

That is how I feel about almost all sports. I get where you are coming from. I have had a place in my heart for the Olympics since my father brought me to the games in LA. It's really a fond memory for me and it comes back each time I watch. There are other reasons I like the Olympics but that is a big one.

At one point in my life I did watch a lot of sports. I don't miss them at all. These days I will go to a hockey or baseball game every now and then. Most of the time I don't even know the records of the teams I'm showing up to watch(Rays and Lightning). I always have fun when I go.

While I am somewhat inclined to think that too many people take sports far too seriously, I also recognize that we all have different interests. For instance, I'm a fan of science fiction, mainly the written form, not so much the TV or movie version. I keep on being puzzled at those who never read it and have never even heard of the writers I like so much. What is wrong with them? (Asked ironically, not seriously)

But yeah, for people who want to watch the Olympics, go for it!

I have for years. It just plain sucks. This year, despite events being played while in US prime time, they STILL decided to tape-delay the men's slopestyle finals. We found out who won from some other news cast, while NBC decided to show the final runs some time later.

And then there are the classless remarks made by Couric (in the opening ceremonies regarding the Dutch- who have roasted her on Twtter) and, worse, some analyst names Ramo insulted the entire Korean populace (who were brutally occupied by the Japanese) by saying Japan served as an example during S. Korea's economic transformation. Minus, I suppose, the slavery and torture. Fortunately he was fired.
