and, most likely, beyond.
They are not going to let up on Barack Obama even one little bit. They are going to oppose and criticize him at every turn. Compromise is a word and principle that is alien to them.
Democrats should not be deceived. They are in a battle 24/7 for this country and our Party. There is no time out for bi-partisanship. Only the naive would suggest such an idea when your opponent is as serious as the conservatives are to destroy you.
Some Democrats do not like to hear folks talk about politics like it is "war". But that is what our opponent believes and practices. Since they cannot even say the word, "compromise", we cannot take them lightly. We are in a battle and we should pull no punches. We should go for the knockout.

(31,849 posts)that the gop will not let up. I also agree that the gop will not compromise.
But it is neither naive, nor taking the gop lightly, to extend the OPPORTUNITY for the gop to compromise, even knowing full well that they will slap our hand and spit on our shoes.
It is/was President Obama's patience (read: willingness to be seen reaching across the aisle) that got us to this point and has moved the "independent" needle towards seeing gop a$$holishness.

(793 posts)Zero/sum calculations are a sign of their weakness. It's why they cannot even pretend to win by the rules. We need to disconnect from their control of the narrative, come together and vote early and often. We should break the lines like we did the last election and force them to close the doors.
We should get the idea out and set the expectation amongst ourselves. We will not be going into work on election day- even if we've already voted we will be helping someone else vote.

(31,849 posts)That is why we need to continue to be seen as reaching across the aisle ... It just makes it all the more clear how unhinged they are.
