Should Democrats nationalize the gun control issue for November?

In my mind, so many of our current nations problems started with Gores “loss”.
I remember a few months before that election hearing some democratic strategists say that Gore needed to soften his stance on guns for him to win.
There was a lot of talk about if he did this he would probably win his home state of Tennessee.
Of course, that would have changed the election.

I also remember after Bush “won” hearing a lot of Dems post mortems on the election.
Again, many said that for Dems to win again (especially in rural America) that they could not continue to support all three of abortion rights, gay rights, and gun control measures.
I do believe that a conscious decision was made to keep supporting the first two but to drop or de-emphasize the gun issue.
Polling showed it was the “smart” thing to do.
The NRA was just too powerful.
Then with Citizens United and “corporations are people”, unlimited amounts of money started pouring in from the NRA and others who interpret the Second Amendment in such broad terms that all types of weaponry sales, swaps, etc. should be 100% protected without govt interference or regulation.

And, here we are again. With another mass shooting. They are rising, not slowing.
What do we (Dems) do now?
Would emphasizing this issue help us win back the House and the Senate in November or would it work against us as it has so many times in the past?
Tough question.
And I don’t know the answer.

1. I thought Gore lost because he was an uninspiring candidate...

Yes, he lost Tennessee. He also lost NINE other States that Bill Clinton won.

2. Gore lost because of Green slime Ralph Nader who one can say caused war, terrible court rulings,

(United), the death of thousands after Katrina and in the end a financial debacle. The GOP owes the left left Green slimes and others of that ilk (only elect perfect Democrats and of course the party's are the same bullshit) a huge debt for Bush's election and now the election of Donald Trump....now what will Trump cost us I wonder?

3. Sue the NRA

not the organization, but each and every member individually.

A class-action lawsuit that declares them liable for all the mass shooting victims of the last, say, 25 years.

Seek damages that guarantee that every individual in the NRA is bankrupted.

100s of billions.

BTW, this would also bankrupt most "Rs" in congress.

If we win, end of the NRA and their funding of congress people.

7. If sued each one for $1 million

That would be a $5 trillion dollar suit. Easily the largest in history.

I think that would get some attention!

4. I prob shouldnt have just singled out Gores race.

My primary question is about November.
We all know how important it is to at least take the House.
Should we come out strongly on the gun issue and make it a referendum type issue nationally or just leave it alone and each individual candidate can decide what’s the best to way to handle it to help them win.

5. The reason Gore lost depends on who you ask

I'll hear that Gore lost because his wife put warning labels on music. Or he claimed he invented the internet. Or he sighed too much and rolled his eyes.

6. I would avoid this as we don't need to give conservatives MORE reasons to get out and vote

do the silent treatment on gun control until we take congress and then full speed ahead on that and impeaching trump and pence.
