"Today at the NRAs headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia, oversized letters on the facade no longer refer to marksmanship and safety. Instead, the Second Amendment is emblazoned on a wall of the buildings lobby. Visitors might not notice that the text is incomplete. It reads:
.. the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
The first halfthe part about the well regulated militiahas been edited out."

(11,170 posts)Repeal is never going to happen. Repeal of the second amendment is a fantasy and in reality, it would be fabulously difficult to achieve, because it requires a 2/3 vote by the populace and the opening of a Constitutional Convention, which is a Pandora's box in and unto itself, as it lays bare the ENTIRE text of the Constitution for amendment from the floor. Not.going.to.happen.
So. let's seize on the militia part...let's push to make every gun owner register with a local militia... maybe administered by the National Guard...and then they have to drill one weekend a month with that militia and are subject to being called up to the military if of age,or serve in some technical capacity if over age, in the case of a war. They can't have it both ways.... we need the guns because... militia... we won't serve in a militia.
Just gassing here, of course, but that would make the cheese more binding so to speak.
