To those advocating arming teachers, posting heavily armed guards at all schools or

(seriously!) having armed drones hovering over schools, a question: wouldn't it make more sense to PREVENT future attacks rather than plan a defensive counter-attack? Why can't Congress just outlaw AR-15s and all other types of semi-auto high capacity firearms designed primarily to kill people? (I mean, besides the fact that many of them are pimping for the NRA.)

If you support that, you're being manipulated by Russian propaganda.

It's a no brainer that the single fastest and most effective way to reduce mass shootings would be to ban AR-15s and other assault style weapons and large ammo magazines. We can do other things too, but they should be in addition to this, not as lousy and inadequate substitutes to the elephant in the room.

as some clever student put it:

Make the possession of them a felony.

Possession of marijuana wasn't illegal at one time.

Laws were passed that made it illegal.

I know the trend is in the opposite direction on marijuana, but on guns maybe we should move toward outlawing their possession.

Maybe people could be allowed to have them at home provided they are not available to children, but not on the street, not ever on the street.

These guns endanger police officers as well as the rest of us.

Hunting rifles are a different matter. I have relatives who live in the country and hunt. That is completely different. Bump stocks, etc. are not needed for hunting.

Nor are AR-15s.

What kind of game are you going to eat if it was shot by and AR-15. I love venison, but I don't want lead in my meat.
