Why is this question never asked about gun violence?

How have other countries successfully dealt with this issue?

3. Americans don't ask that question about any difficult issue.

Americans generally don't speak or learn foreign languages and most Americans have little interest in anything anywhere else.

That's my impression. Please correct me if I am wrong.

6. Why would we want to be more like a shithole country?

And yes, to right-wingers, in the end *any* country that’s not America is a shithole country.

Some are more shitholey than others, but they’re all shitholes.

7. Other countries, even those in which gun ownership is common,

like Canada, Switzerland and the Scandinavian countries, do not have a gun culture. They prohibit private ownership of most military-style weapons and restrict or require registration of other kinds of guns. Although many people own guns they use them mostly for hunting and don't attach any symbolic or patriotic meaning to them. Owning a gun is not evidence of manhood or national pride. They probably have the same percentage of mentally-ill people as we do, but (aside from the fact that these countries also have universal health care and take better care of people with mental health problems) because almost nobody, sane or otherwise, can own automatic or semi-auto weapons, angry, disturbed people are unable to exhibit their demons by killing a lot of people all at once.

8. It's not a question. It's a fact. We do NOT have to reinvent the wheel

The examples are there. Our "chosen" government representatives refuse to implement them.
