6. Is your ID picture some quilt squares and a needle & thread?

Love it!

And I agree with you about the opposition feeling like the '60's. Especially since it's the youth that are feeling the brunt of the politics. It's just that they don't have to leave the country to face bullets.

I don't do large quilts but enjoy small things like quilts for infants. I'm making quilted potholders this weekend from vintage barkcloth I thrifted some time ago. Fun!

P.S. I sent you a pm via DU mail.

I think many conservatives are feeling our heat, too! They know they are boxed in and have no credible solutions!

5. The rally in Tallahassee, FL was the largest

in decades. The crowd spilled off the lawn completely blocking the entire road in front of the capital building. This was with only a few days notice, in the middle of the day, on a Wednesday. Any bets on how many folks show up on March 24th? I'm betting it will be larger than the Women's March.

7. Similarities with 60s-youth protected by race, money free to act with little fear of reprisals

I know, I know - there were, are, and will be reprisals. Yet they are free to act in ways poor non-wnites are not.

ALSO TOO - they are free to act because they are young and without spouse or kids.

Not sure this particular combination has existed between Viet Nam War protests and today.

Even though you see attacks against the kids You don't see the vehemence that usually is attached to the right wing other than the true RWNJ. I believe in general they can't assail these kids or do so at their own peril. They will try to say they are being used but not confront them head on. They are so literate and passionate. I don't think they can marginalize them. There are kids like them everywhere. They realize there are only two kinds of schools. Those who have been attacked and those who are going to be attacked. I believe they can lead and we can fill in the gaps. These kids are savvy.

that the Republican Party hasn't managed to permanently run off a significant number of people who may have been on the fence up until now. Maybe not enough to put us over the top, but surely some fence-sitters have managed to see the light. It has been a literal clown show - and a malicious one at that.

when I heard from someone who represented RedState on Ari Melber's "The Beat" yesterday, he was saying that the thing that the RWers over at CPAC and elsewhere enjoyed about the 45 era so far has been watching liberal-leaning people being upset, if nothing else. They'd better be careful what they wish for--an angry electorate is a motivated electorate. I'm not saying that a November 2018 Blue Wave is a sure thing because plenty can happen from now until then, but there have already been a handful of local and state positions flipped in our favor since January of last year, and the GOP's inactivity on gun violence only adds fuel to the fire.
