Just consider: As bad as Romney is doing in Europe...

...imagine if one of his primary opponents were in his place.

Just think what mind-numbing transcontinental gaffes would be said by Herman Cain, Rick Perry, Michelle Bachman,
Rick Santorum, or Newt Gingrich!

Our entire country would have to hide our heads in shame.

3. I would only put Santorum and Gingrich into that category

And only because both are better grifters than the other three.

i think Bachman is the only one who might have been worse. but with her that would have been the expectation. and she might not have even tried to appeal to the normal people. but might have sought out the crazy ones and spoke just to them. like maybe some private right wing group that has no influence nationally in the country.

5. I agree with you. I think Santorum would have the brains to not get overly "fundy" with them,

and he'd say nice things about London. Newt looks like a character study on a Toby Jug, so he'd probably get along just fine, too--he bloviates, but they'd probably be amused by him, because he can be a lively conversationalist when he's not doing the blowhard thing. Herman Cain? They'd find him funny with the Nine Nine Nine crap, and they'd probably laugh like hell if he tried to flirt with anyone--forewarned is forearmed, and all that. Bachmann? She's an idiot, but there exists a very vocal "England First" anti-EU, "Fuck Brussels" group that she'd probably get along with just dandy.

Mitt made the penultimate mistake of insulting his hosts. The only thing he could have done worse is take a shit on the steps of Buckingham Palace.

The correct answer to that Olympics question was "I'm sure everything will go just fine--London's a beautiful city, isn't it? What a great opportunity for all the athletes of the world to get to see it!" But NOOOoooooooo--he's just so frigging full of himself that he HAD to suggest that he was "better" at "doing an Olympics." What a tool!

There's always a bright side, if not for him-- how wonderful that he showed the US what an incompetent putz he is on the world stage, and he showed the entire world his ass at such a visible venue!

7. I keep thinking about how he'd play in the rest of the non "Anglo-Saxon" world.

Scary thought, isn't it?
