President Donald Trump kicked off his “Executive Time” on Thursday morning with something of an attempt to clarify his wild televised meeting with a bipartisan group of lawmakers yesterday, in which he apparently endorsed a number of Democratic gun control proposals.

“Many ideas, some good & some not so good, emerged from our bipartisan meeting on school safety yesterday at the White House,” Trump tweeted. “Background Checks a big part of conversation. Gun free zones are proven targets of killers.”

He also noted his desire for legislation, while juggling the need to signal his fealty to the gun rights: “After many years, a Bill should emerge. Respect 2nd Amendment!”
