Do you think Mueller is playing a sufficiently advanced calculus where he's going to keep dropping bombshells up until after the November election when he'll drop the big ones on Trump and possibly Pence? This is to give the greatest opportunity for Democrats to gain control of both house in order for the impeachment process and trial to continue?
If not, can you explain your feelings why?

(1,294 posts)This shouldnt be partisan. If the GOP sees enough blood in the water, they may act.
Note the many GOP not running for re-election and therefore willing to act more boldly than previously.

(51,584 posts)Also, Manafort goes to court in Sept. Someone on DU suggested last week that Mueller will go full steam until the midterms and pull back a bit, then pick up the pace again. He won't rush his investigation for the midterms, even if it would save us from possibly reelecting a GOP majority. He will be thorough and do his job regardless of that possible outcome.

(11,096 posts)I do not expect him to drop any indictments or other big news in the weeks before the election. There is a long-standing rule in the DoJ not to take any actions that might affect an election. (Yeah I know, Comey violated that rule in 2016 but Mueller is more disciplined.)
If the investigation is still on-going by October, Mueller will go quiet (not on vacation, just quiet) until after the election. A couple of months ago, I would have told you the investigation would not be nearly over by October. However, the pace has been surprising. I still think it unlikely the investigation will be completed before the election but I am less sure.
