Question

There's a lot of talk going around about the Russians, but why isn't there an equal amount of talk about Trump's involvement with the mafias? Mueller's reputation is that of taking out out John Gotti and Sammy "The Bull" which is one of the reasons I think Rosenstein picked him. And we know from people who have studied Trump over the years that he had mafia bosses stay at the Trump tower. No indictments involving the mafia bosses have even been mentioned to my knowledge. So the Trump crime family gets a pass on working closely with every mafia known to mankind? Just asking.

It is hard to tell where the government ends and the Russian mafia begins. So, you are really talking about the same thing.

It's not just the Russian mafia. Trump has had dealings with both US and Italian mafias in the form of money laundering I'm sure. My wife asked if that included homicides as well. Go figure. Trump is a black hole. He has no conscience according to people who have studied him. So anything goes in my mind.

But if I had to guess, he doesn't have strong evidence for a lot of Mafia ties. Although, there is Felix Sater, who wad apparently a go between and a known stool pigeon.

He's digging into ALL of it.

It's not that he's giving Trump or anyone else a pass on anything, but the scope of his investigation, what he was hired to do, focuses on investigating ties with Russia, so he HAS to make that distinction apply to whatever he's looking into. To do otherwise would open him up to potential charges that he's going beyond the scope of the investigation he was hired to do, and the possibility of being fired for that.

Overall, he's looking for what he can make stick within the scope of his investigation, and he's going to build the tightest case he can. Remember: they didn't take down AL Capone for being a mobster; they took him down for tax evasion - - because they could easily prove that in court.

I believe, however, that the entirety of Mueller’s findings will be laid out in the report he writes for Congress. Keep in mind as well that much of what you are referring to can be brought to court at the state level, rather than federal. New York's Attorney General, Eric Schneiderman, is prepared to do so when the time comes, if need be, and there can be no presidential pardons for state crimes.

In the end, I believe there will be no stones left unturned, and it will all be made public (barring national security concerns). The charges, whether for impeachment or prosecution (or both), will be what makes an ironclad case. There are no do-overs here. Mueller has one chance to get it right. With his track record, I trust him to do just that. He's wrapping it all up for us nice and neat with a bow on top.

Right now, we just have to be patient and trust Mueller to do his job. He knows what is at stake. I do not think that he, and the scores of patriots working with and alongside him, will let us down. It is hard to do these things, I know. It is a struggle daily to trust and be patient. But therein lies some comfort and peace of mind if we let it in.
