Meghan McCain lying on ABC's "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos

Meghan McCain said this morning that Democrats want to take away our guns first
and go the legal route afterwards.

She had to be reminded that it was President Trump who said that.

To which she replied "Well, Democrats applauded !"

(I think she wants a job in the Trump administration)

1. The issue is children dying, not guns.

If we didn't have children and other innocent people dying, no one would care about the guns.

Because that is the emotional issue that is more important to all of us than the guns.

People shoot guns because they are bored and because of the security they feel when they delude themselves into thinking that with a gun they can defend themselves and their families.

The real issue with guns is that they don't make people, they don't make society more secure.

Guns kill. They kill innocent people. They kill children.

And death of a loved one, of a child, of a spouse, of a parent, of a friend is devastating.

It's not that anyone wants to "take" a gun from anyone.

It's that we want to "keep" our children, our loved ones away from harm.

And not having guns or at least certain guns in our society is more likely to make us and our loved ones secure and happy than having guns.

It's that value -- security in our families and with those we love and care about that the gun conversation is about.

It's our job to convince gun addicts that they and their families are more secure without these guns in our society than they are with them.

It's all about security. And that is the value that we have to teach people is better served without these guns than it is with them.

4. Sadly, Meghan McCain is More Concerned with Being Right and Winning, Than Decency

McCain is just another fact-challenged, zealot, who only has a platform because her father is a U. S. Senator. On her own, she lacks any serious accomplishments. The fact that Americans are being brutally killed with guns every day, that our schools, churches, concerts, shopping malls, or any other public venue are no longer safe doesn't matter to her as much as winning and being right. She is just another disgusting mouthpiece for the NRA.

She brings nothing special to the table. She's a celebrity because someone said she was a celebrity.

She'll go missing and never be missed.

7. Its about seeking restraining order when you have reason to believe person a danger to self/others

Discussion around this has been sloppy on TV and vague.

Under Connecticut's law -

1. Police have to obtain a warrant from a judge before guns can be seized (showing of risk but not high bar of showing mentally ill. Must push back on state's that focus on requiring showing of mentally ill - that is how failures happened in FLA Parkland shooting.

2. Owner of the firearms is entitled to a hearing within two weeks to decide whether or not the guns will be returned.

Four other states have similar laws – California, Oregon, Washington and Indiana.

Duke University study found Connecticut’s law has likely prevented dozens of gun suicides.

There is due process but the idea is you take guns away based on warrant so there is immediacy, surprise. Don't signal to person will be taking them to court to take guns away.

Yeah, remember that, the next time she calls for civility when someone criticizes her father.

15. She's weak, she sucks up the extreme RW tropes of her new husband

I will never understand this woman's qualifications. She has never really had a thought of her own. She parroted her Dad, her Mom, Ron Reagan Jr etc. But, never understood why anyone would care about what she said anyway.

Now, she is continuing to show the weakness of her own mind by parroting the hateful, hackneyed, extreme Right Wing tropes long spewed by her husband, whom she recently married. He's the fundie, home schooled Ben Domenech who went on to become a plagiarist when writing for his college newspaper, and then National Review and New York Press articles. He resigned in disgrace from the Washington Post and RedState when the plagiarism came to light.
