New York Democratic Lawyers' Council looking for volunteers for PA-18 Special Election

Fellow Democratic Lawyers and Voting Rights Advocates,

For months we've been following the bizarre chain of events that led anti-choice hardliner (and garden-variety GOP hypocrite) PA Rep. Tim Murphy to resign his Congressional seat in late 2017. What's exciting now is that Pennsylvania Democrat and former U.S. Marine Conor Lamb has a real chance to win a March 13th Special Election to replace him in Southwest Pennsylvania (CD-18).

This week, Cook Political Report moved the race from "Lean Republican" to "Toss-Up", calling it "exceedingly close". The 33-year-old Lamb put up such strong fundraising figures recently that it sent the GOP into a panic! But it won't be easy. In the past, the GOP easily carried the district, helped in part by illegal partisan gerrymandering that the PA Supreme Court recently ruled unconstitutional. But times have changed! What matters today is that this is a close contest. That's why Conor's Voter Protection team needs our help. Robust voter protection can save thousands of votes by ensuring a smooth day at the polls and stamp out ugly voter suppression tactics designed to intimidate perfectly eligible voters. A win here will make a difference locally and in Washington by electing an impressive young patriot to office and bringing us one step closer to retaking Congress in November. You'll monitor one or more priority poll sites and help prevent incidents in real time that undermine fundamental voting rights or may violate PA law / election rules.
