There are some people in Congress who actually want to do away with the Presidential term limit. It would take an amendment. Not that easy, but after all, it was passed as a law by amendment after FDR's third term. So it can be done.

We elected a Republican president and congress in 2016. The only pushback to some of Trumps's initiatives has been some judicial rulings. The congress has shown no appetite whatsoever in opposing anything Trump has proposed. If he decides to cancel elections who will stop him?
