(5,954 posts)Derp..."America isn't a democracy, it's a REPUBLIC..."
Life hasn't been quite the same since Rand Paul crayoned an opinion piece claiming America isn't a democracy, it's a republic. Thus forcing us to waste our time explaining to at least ten internet trolls per day that a republic is one of the many forms of government that a democracy can take.

(11,266 posts)2016 could be our last election? Or something to that effect.
during the campaign. Not sure if hed been nominated at that point, but, at the time, I was very disturbed by it. It should have disqualified him as the Republican candidate.

(3,479 posts)That's the excuse being made by the reich-wingers. Because if Obama said something like this, even in jest, these assholes would totally be fine with it. Sure.

The truth is: This is no joke. It never is. When Trump says something like this, he is telling the truth about his desires, his associates, his commands, his personal behavior, all of it.

(37,648 posts)He said something else I saw on a video in recent days. He old someone something about his run in 2020, and then, "Who knows?" He held his hand up and turned it side to side (as in, "this way or that" . Meaning 2020 may not be the end, was the implication.
There are some people in Congress who actually want to do away with the Presidential term limit. It would take an amendment. Not that easy, but after all, it was passed as a law by amendment after FDR's third term. So it can be done.

(4,461 posts)... MO. He makes a comment he can walk back as a joke, but it floats the idea into the public discussion, and he gauges how it rates with the audience. Then he tweaks it, repackages it for better marketing, and before you know it, its a thing being considered. Hes been doing this routine his entire life.

(1,325 posts)I remember lil' shrub saying he'd like to be a dictator 'cause it would be easier to run the government. Heh heh. I bring this up because some idiots actually pine for the "good ol' days" of the bush reign of terror. In my book, I see more similarities between boy george and drumpf than any big differences. Slide them both down a giant cheese grater toot sweet I say.

(4,651 posts)We elected a Republican president and congress in 2016. The only pushback to some of Trumps's initiatives has been some judicial rulings. The congress has shown no appetite whatsoever in opposing anything Trump has proposed. If he decides to cancel elections who will stop him?
