229 Repubs Voted Last Night to Prevent You from Ever Seeing Donald Trump's Returns

House Republicans have blocked an attempt by Democrats to force President Donald Trump to release his tax returns to Congress.

Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrell of New Jersey said Monday that Congress has a responsibility to hold the executive branch "to the highest standard of transparency to ensure the public interest is placed first."

Pascrell and other Democrats said the tax returns also would help lawmakers and the public determine whether Trump has any investments in Russia.

Trump has said he has no investments in Russia, and Democrats acknowledged they have no evidence otherwise. They said that is one reason they want to obtain access to Trump's returns.

The Republican-controlled House on Monday approved Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy's motion to postpone indefinitely Pascrell's proposal. The vote was 229 to 185.

Watch them help drumph try to install a junta.

Don't think that can happen?

He's already talking about a lifetime presidency.

And they said nothing about that.

It's that there are so many willing to vote for someone with so many glaring conflicts and questions without ANSWERS. It sounds like a good requirement in this instance, but what door does it open in the future to requirements and restrictions on running for President. I can only imagine it will be abused.

they covered donnie's failure to release taxes rather matter-of-factly. they said it was unprecedented, but then they go straight to polls that showed whatever they showed and then they just shrug their shoulders and carry on.

had hillary or obama done this they would have hounded them and every single story about them would be about some angle of not releasing their taxes and what are they trying to hide. but with donnie it was just oh well. still hasn't released them, but let's talk about hillary's emails.

now republicans in congress are complicit in the cover-up. now that he's in office and there are legitimate questions about his decisions and whether or not his personal finances may have been a factor -- not the least of which is the tax heist -- it's pretty much a dereliction of duty not to look into donnie's finances.

and once again, shame on the media for giving them a pass on this.
