The following link notes that 8 out of top ten most peaceful states voted blue for Obama in last presidential election while 7 of most violent states voted Red.

Does that surprise anyone at all?
Anyone here from a peaceful state?

4. Sense of community

What Utah has in common with small New England states is that people are neighborly, due in no small part in Utah to the LDS church.

Now there are Mormons in neighboring Nevada, but there is no neighborliness there. The rapid growth of Las Vegas has left no time to get to meet and know the neighbors, let alone have any sense of community. Maybe the 10% of Nevada that isn't Clark county is as peaceful as Utah, that would be an interesting question to ask.

When the red/blue divide doesn't explain things, it's time to look at a variable that cuts a different way.

so I passed it up several times. You might want to note that somewhere in your subject line so others like me, who are sick to death of those threads, won't miss the chance to watch what is a great little video.
