Trump is just 'tariffying' the American People and our allies with his tariffs.
Ryan tells the Repugs - don't bully Trump on the tariffs because he might make the situation worse.
It's ok for Trump to bully though.
The way to beat the bully is to stand up to him. No one has the guts to do that.

He was positively giddy when the tax scam passed.
Maybe he doesn't get that Congress is a co-equal body to the president and the House is where bills can start to stop the bully.
He's a feckless nothing as Speaker.

I suspect one of their primary goals with these tariffs is to force Canada and Mexico to back down on their self-protecting stances in the NAFTA negotiations. If one or both cries uncle and bows down to the US, then tRump's bunch will back off on tariffs. I hope both nations hold steadfast to their principles.
We already have existing trade sanctions on steel from China, from past administrations. What Trump fails to tell the American public is that we can never again have the capacity to meet most of our needs for steel and aluminum raw mill products.
Should the tariffs be applied for any significant time, one of the main areas where we could lose our arse is big job losses in the fabricated metals industries - say, where sheet steel is formed into panels for cars and appliances.
