NRA sues Florida to block new gun law.

..FUCK THE NRA

(CNN)The National Rifle Association is suing the state of Florida after Gov. Rick Scott signed Senate Bill 7026 into law Friday, the first gun control legislation enacted in the state after the Parkland school massacre on February 14.

"This bill punishes law-abiding gun owners for the criminal acts of a deranged individual," executive director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action Chris W. Cox said. "Securing our schools and protecting the constitutional rights of Americans are not mutually exclusive."

Seventeen people were killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School when a 19-year-old man with a semi-automatic military-style rifle opened fire.

The new Florida law raises the minimum age to purchase a firearm to 21 from 18, bans the sale or possession of bump fire stocks, gives law enforcement greater power to seize weapons and ammunition from those deemed mentally unfit, and provides additional funding for armed school resource officers.

From the new law. This should get thrown out for lack of standing.

5. Absolutely. Who is the NRA to be whining? If the laws can be done they can be undone.

7. Is it the NRA that is suing? Or are they backing a Florida member?

If I recall, most of the NRA suits are actually lead by an NRA member, with the NRA funding it.

Heller VS DC is a good example of this.

The NRA is no stranger to the courts, so they probably have this covered.

15. I wondered if they wrote the law so their test case would have merit.

I'm no lawyer, so I have no idea, except that those R reps in FLA love that NRA $ and wouldn't want to turn off the tap.
It's not like they suddenly turned into nice people who care about school kids...

that gives millions upon millions to curry favor with our representatives in government. Now, seems to me the best way to deal with this is to find representatives who will refuse to take their terrorist money.

Now folks will get to see Wayne LaPierre telling Floridians to shove it on sensible gun law. Wayne LaPierre ain't no Chuck Heston.
