(694 posts)does a diservice to "Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School".
In 20 years, the initials "MSD" will be taken over by some pharmaceutical company, or something equally nefarious. It will lose its power.
Take the time to type it out.
YMMV.
Edited to add: My high-schooler and I will be participating at a March for Our Lives event. I found out about it at DU.

Womens March Youth EMPOWER is calling for students, teachers, school administrators, parents and allies to take part in a #NationalSchoolWalkout for 17 minutes at 10am across every time zone to protest Congress inaction to do more than tweet thoughts and prayers in response to the gun violence plaguing our schools and neighborhoods. We need action. Students and allies are organizing the national school walkout to demand Congress pass legislation to keep us safe from gun violence at our schools, on our streets and in our homes and places of worship.
Students and staff have the right to teach and learn in an environment free from the worry of being gunned down in their classrooms or on their way home from school. Parents have the right to send their kids to school in the mornings and see them home alive at the end of the day.
We are not safe at school. We are not safe in our cities and towns. Congress must take meaningful action to keep us safe and pass federal gun reform legislation that addresses the public health crisis of gun violence. We want Congress to pay attention and take note: many of us will vote this November and many others will join in 2020. Join us in saying #ENOUGH
I saw that 150,000 people are "interested" in this event. Almost 30 elementary-high schools and many of our universities are walking out and the school board is encouraging the walkout as an educating " lesson".
I want to participate in an event with my son, but I feel he needs to protest with kids his own age. It's the first chance for him to engage with his community about an issue that means something to him personally.

(51,430 posts)by telling them that this is a good lesson to participate in and learn from. Teachers are incorporating it into lessons in the classroom. I would do that with my first graders by it bringing down to their appropriate level. Your son will learn from this and it's wise of you to see this and step back a bit.
