Line holders at the polls--Is it legal?

Whenever a new iPhone comes out, there are professionals line holders who, for a fee, will wait in line for you. Once your turn comes up, they yield their place to you.

Can this be done with long lines to get into polling places? Is this legal?

1. It's probably legal, despite being rude.

Frankly, I wish there were long lines at my polling place. That would make me very happy.

People have kids, jobs, etc. A lot of people lead very chaotic, hectic lives and don't have the luxury of time.

4. Again, I don't think there's any law regarding someone

Holding a place in a line at a polling place. As long as the registered voter signs in and votes, it's probably OK. However, others who have been waiting in line might feel differently about it and might object if someone walks up and replaces the line holder. But I don't know of any law that applies.

Personally, I think Election Day should be an official holiday. That's unlikely to occur, though. I do know that too few people bother to vote, though. Far too few. I wish we could fix that.

8. That's exactly why Republicans cut voting stations and voting time

Many people haven't got the ability to wait in slow lines. Some are disabled, some have children to tend to, some have jobs they can't get away from for long, some get hungry or have to go to the bathroom, and some who are given a ride to vote are unable to stay because their ride can't wait all day. It is grueling on purpose for Democrats in many areas.

have never had to wait more than 10 minutes anywhere I lived in Nevada. Can't imagine waiting hours like some of you have to do.

3. Paying for an advantage in the voting process. Seems like an unfair advantage not available to

anyone that can't afford to pay. It could prevent someone from voting that otherwise could have gotten in before polls closed. Also, anyone that had already voted has no business in line if that were the case.

5. What if line holders were unpaid volunteers from the campaigns?

What if there was coordination with the campaigns?

... I would never make a fuss about someone ahead of me holding a place. I would even hold someones place if they asked me. I would get a little cranky if someone held it for an entire car full of ppl (unless they were quite elderly.. then Im all YAHOO GO FOR IT!).

Our state is all mail in so no polling places and no lines.
