Hes always great. But tonight, he was on a different level. Hes hands down the best election night analysis.

(10,053 posts)I had a really politically active friend in college that was super hyper. We used to call him Doc Gonzo. Dude was smart, and a riot to watch. Kornacki reminds me of him so much.

(3,635 posts)style election night results analysis, but Kornacki has improved and has his own frenetic style.
The thing is, while I prefer King, CNN always tends to have these far right clowns on their panel, and MSNBC's overall analysis is usually much better.

(3,490 posts)which is why I stick to MSNBC.

(28,979 posts)omg. He may single handedly be responsible for a surge in voter enthusiasm.

(14,565 posts)Kornacki is never a winner with that style.
Besides, I had both networks on side by side and CNN/John King was always ahead, including the live report of the final absentee numbers from Allegheny.

I normally prefer MSNBC ...but on election night I choose CNN. John King much more of a pro.

(4,394 posts)I was trying to watch the Last Word and he kept interrupting all of the other analysts mid sentence every two minutes. And then there was about twenty minutes of him literally reading meaningless numbers off a spreadsheet with no context or analysis. Riveting television to be sure, but I kept hoping they would cut back to the panel having an actual discussion.

(58,785 posts)At my age I'm accustomed to a much slower life than I once lived, and I don't always follow that speed well. But it's made up for by, as you say, his sheer delight in fact and numbers analysis, and his impressive competence! I enjoyed watching him in that little box.

(7,722 posts)was John King frantically working the magic board looking for a way that Clinton could pull it out. I don't usually watch CNN but I was flipping back and forth as I always do election nights. I like Axelrod, Toobin, Begala and Borger on CNN, hate that they give so much voice to RW nut bags. If they continue to give Kelly Conartist an outlet to air her propaganda I won't watch like I once did.

(36,259 posts)He's a quant guy, a stats nerd. Just the guy you want to be listening to on an election night, if you really want to know what the outcome is going to be ASAP. He knows what you want to hear but serves up the facts even when the news is bad.
Not so long ago, we had a close election here in AL. I really thought Jones was most likely to win, but it got a little nerve-wracking as all the red counties reported in first. Thanks to the NYT election Web site (which gives vote counts for each county) and some comments from SK I figured it was a Jones win for certain well before the network called it. SK was actually giving all the reasons why that had to be true before NBC called it, but MSNBC wouldn't announce a Jones win until the parent network called it. I think SK was ahead of NBC by about 15 minutes and I could see 15 min before that that it was in the bag, just not an absolute, arithmetical certainty. If Moore had outperformed 45 bigly in the remaining precincts he *might* have pulled it out -- but that clearly was not going to happen, as he had been underperforming bigly relative to 45 in every precinct. Nerds like SK are all over that stuff. We need them.
