Thoughts on the departure in 10 minutes of Rex Tillerson from State.

He was, clearly, the worst Secretary of State in my lifetime, and maybe ever. That said, he did not deserve the despicable treatment he got from that motherfucker we are forced to endure as our president.

It was absolutely uncalled for. And unpardonable. And makes me despise that motherfucker who did it even more, if that's even possible.

Tillerson had a distinguished career at Exxon and other corporations.
I'm sure he regrets coming out of retirement to serve the Orange Asshole.
Hopefully he'll get even by telling everything he knows to Bob Mueller.

who never should have accepted the job in the first place; but having taken it he proceeded to treat the State Department like an over-staffed business. We now have no functioning State Department. He sucked, no question. But even so, he did not deserve the disrespect and the humiliation Trump dumped on him. Trump always brags about hiring "the best people" (though most of them aren't the best, or even adequate), but then he proceeds to treat them like crap. I think Tillerson tried to do a good job though he had no idea how to go about it, and to make matters worse, Trump kept kneecapping him.

A boss sometimes has to fire an employee, and it's not a pleasant or comfortable thing to do. But what you do is, you bring the employee into your office, look them in the eye, and tell them in a straightforward but courteous way that the situation isn't working out and you're sorry but you'll have to let them go. You explain why they're being let go as tactfully as possible, thank them for their work, shake their hand, offer some assistance if they'd like, and generally treat them courteously and compassionately as you escort them out. You don't fire them by email or in a tweet or by letting them find someone else sitting at their desk. Once again Trump has proved he's a coward with the sensitivity of a toilet seat.

10. Remember he fired Comey and didn't think he should get to use the plane

to get back to D.C. I think Comey was in California.

Trump didn't just fire him, he wanted to humiliate him. Tillerson flew back early after Kelly told him his job was in real jeopardy.

11. What do you want from a person who rose to prominance by yelling You are fired!

Same was with Comey. No guts to meet a person face to face and say: this is not working.

But, as Rachel commented while talking about David Corn and Michael Isikoff new book Russian Roulette, Tillerson was appointed with the blessing of Putin.

Now, that he dared to agree that Putin poisoned the former spy in the U.K. he has to go.

12. Organizations with high turnover means there is a problem with the organization, not the employees
Wed Mar 14, 2018, 12:30 AM

When you apply for a job, always ask why the position is vacant. Is it a new position or a replacement. If a replacement, I ask about turnover in that position.. If an organization has high turn over, it tells me one of the following:

1. They do not vet candidates well nor do they match their skill set for the job or offer training for the skill sets to meet the job requirements

2. They're assholes to work for (this encompasses everything - asshole personality, changing your hours without notice, crappy pay for what is expected, etc.)

3. (this kind of goes along with both 1 and 2) They don't know how to coach or offer feedback to help employees improve or improve circumstances. Instead, when Jane is consistently late with deadlines or the quality of Joe's work has gone down or Susan seems to have developed an attitude... they just fire them rather than counsel to see what the problem is and try to help them improve. i.e. Jane is late because the software update on her computer requires 7 extra steps that she didn't need to do before, Joe's workload has tripled since he is covering for a sick coworker and Susan is frustrated because she is salary and Jane's work is late and Joe's has errors and it is up to her to fix everything and stay late, miss her kid's soccer games and choir concerts.

Trump is all 3 - he doesn't vet people nor hire people who are qualified and competent, he is a dick to work for and belittles and blames his employees and would rather just fire them than do the work of a manager to improve situations. He is a terrible manager, employer, CEO, President, boss, and human being.

13. Working for Trump has got to be career suicide now. And who'd want to work in that WH
Wed Mar 14, 2018, 12:43 AM

after seeing how Trump treats people? Tillerson was respected as a business executive who'd run a huge corporation, and he was talked into taking a job that he wasn't especially qualified for and probably didn't really want all that much. I think he probably went into it wanting and intending to do a good job, even if his idea of how the State Department should be run was based on concepts of corporate management that didn't work. And to make matters worse, he'd say things that he thought represented the administration's positions, then Trump would tweet something completely opposite and make him look stupid or out of the loop. Finally Trump fires him in a really rude and embarrassing way - so now he'll be remembered as an inept SoS who got fired instead of an effective corporate CEO. People leave that cesspool of an administration humiliated and with their reputations in shreds.
