The Democrats need to flip 24 seats to win back the House — here’s how they can get there
Brad Reed 14 MAR 2018 AT 09:30 ET

Democrat Conor Lamb’s apparent upset win in Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district is sending shockwaves through the Republican Party, as the district had voted for President Donald Trump by 20 points in 2016.

According to the Cook Partisan Voting Index, PA-18 is rated as a Republican +11 district, which means Republican candidates have a built-in 11-point advantage over Democratic candidates.

What should really concern Republicans, however, is that there are more than 100 Republican-held districts across the country that are rated as less Republican than PA-18 — meaning dozens of GOP incumbents now find themselves potentially vulnerable.

Based on Cook’s Partisan Voting Index, here are the most promising districts for Democratic pick ups.......

in my opinion - it was too close for comfort.

What we need for 2018 is nothing short of historic. We need to make the 2018 midterms historic. We need to drive the voter turnout so that it is the largest voter turnout for any election in U.S. history. We can't be content with just squeeking by. We can't let the Repugs have an opportunity to steal some votes and steal the election from us. The way to overcome their voter suppression, gerrymandering and stealing of votes is to have voters turn out is such numbers as to make any Repug efforts to steal the election impossible.

We need the voter turnout in the 2018 midterms of historic proportions.

GOTV!!!!! Largest voter turnout for any election in U.S. history - 2018 midterms.

This was a deep, deep red district, it’s nothing sort of incredible and outstanding that we won. We’re you expecting Lamb to win 80 percent of the vote?

and yes - it was in a solid Red district. But in the end only a few hundred votes separate these guys. And - this morning I hear sounds of a recount. Any time I hear about recounts - yes - it is too close for comfort and it allows the Repugs another chance to steal votes and maybe the election.

I want a blowout turnout - so that the numbers make it very difficult for any shenanigans.

I didn't yet hear anything about the voter turnout in PA18 this morning. What was the percentage of eligible voters in PA18 that actually voted? Were there a lot of votes left on the table by voters that didn't get to the polls?

This took place in a republican gerrymandered district that went for the Dumpster Fire in charge by a whopping 20 points in the 2016 national elections!

It is a political miracle that a virtual unknown democrat won this! AND he refused outside money help in his campaign to boot!

The republican had 10 million koch bros dollars pouring in, visits from the sitting pResdient, his crime family members and his damned VP as well AND HE LOST!!!!!!!!

This is a HUUUUUGE WIN for the democrats!!!! And its further proof that the Blue Wave is alive and well!

Yes - the Blue Wave is alive and well - but - I won't be satisfied until we change that Blue Wave into a Blue Tsunami. I like that extra margin of safety.

Remember the Repugs could still be helped by the Russian hackers. Couple that with the gerrymandering; their voter suppression; their stealing votes and their fear of losing power - and God knows what tricks they will be pulling in the 2018 midterms to win.

I want the 2018 midterms to be an historic election for the U.S. The largest voter turnout ever in an election. Am I asking too much here?

GOTV!!!!! We need to start this now while we have a good 8 months to mount such a campaign.

The trick is finding the right candidate with the right message for each of those districts.

But there are many more, no doubt!

The dems will be bulletproof and in charge if they pick up most of these seats!!

as the old saying goes. If we get Dem voters out, Dems will win up and down the ballot, from local races to Congress and Senate.

I'm in a blue state, with several red districts. I think at least two of those can be flipped this cycle. Possibly 3.

As was said above, get good candidates, run good campaigns, GOTV. At its heart, politics ain't that complicated.
