Since the Right is so critical of young people attempting to lead, I thought I'd

As it turns out, many Founding Fathers were younger than 40 years old in 1776, with several qualifying as Founding Teenagers or Twentysomethings. And though the average age of the signers of the Declaration of Independence was 44, more than a dozen of them were 35 or younger.

When I was 20 there were only a dozen students on my college campus who would bother to protest. In the 1980s there was a downturn beginning in the counter culture and progressive circles. Reagan had managed to shift the attitudes towards a culture of self-interest. Self Magazine was launched to prey on the new hyper capitalist modality. Even Madonna was singing "I'm a material girl." (Although the Talking Heads were singing "Burning down the house!" (and don't forget our dear Clash, Dead Kennedies, Patti Smith et al).

Thank the Universe the times they are a-changin' again. This time, however, the protests seem more sober and more effective. And older generations of lefties have the kids backs. It's really different and pretty amazing. "Getting so much resistance from behind" no longer applies.
