I familiarized myself with the history of Britain so could understand alot of what is portrayed and being almost 65 am aware of the history.

I suggest anyone to get the Lonely Planet book on Britain and turn to the back pages and get a quick read of a few pages on the history. It also goes on to describe the different food and drinks and sports etc.

I am going to UK in October to tour and visit my son who has emigrated there. I am so excited.

I studied British Literature in my last year of high school, in N.J. and fell in love with it. I loved the parts of the opening referring to the British Literature. And of course, I loved the music...Loved the British invasion when it came to our continent.

As a Canadian I appreciated the NHS part of the ceremony. There is NOTHING so wonderful as to NOT worry about health care bills when one is sick or loved ones are sick.
I was able to concentrate on making my husband and younger son's lives better while they were treated for their cancers...Imagine having your son diagnosed with a brain tumor and your husband of Non-Hogkins Lymphoma two months apart....that was in 1998...Our son died in 1999 and my husband died in 2001...They got all the right treatments....No insurance company denying any of them.

We Canadians are just as proud of our health care system as the British.

Jolly Good Job, Britain..

You are so positive and heartfelt. Simple truths simply stated have so much power.

Blessings to you, and thank you for making my day.

One would think changing channels, finding something that is "less boring" would be a click away.

If not, the Hallmark Channel has a Walker, Texas Ranger marathon on that might interest you.

What tainted it for me was NBC's horrible coverage and having to listen to asswipe Matt Lauer.

Otherwise, the entire affair was appropriately British and I loved it.

There should have been no commentators; simple captions to let us read what was going on would have been perfect.
