There is a case against him that he was fired for inappropriate actions so it would be VERY hard for him to show that the investigation is incorrect or lies and prove that there was no cause to fire him.

The story ultimately presented McCabe as a somewhat complicated figure — one who some FBI officials thought was standing in the way of the Clinton Foundation investigation, but who also seemed to be pushing back against Justice Department officials who did not believe there was a case to be made.
