... "The president has complained that McMaster is too rigid and that his briefings go on too long and seem irrelevant" ...

... John Kelly ... botched the White House response to the Rob Porter domestic-abuse scandal, then tried to recover by cracking down on interim security clearances. Jared Kushner lost his top-secret status, which reportedly enraged Trump’s older children ... Kelly "angered the president by privately saying 'no' to the boss too often" ...

... There are allegations that Carson and his wife lied about their roles in the redecoration process, and a former top HUD official claims she was demoted for challenging their lavish spending ...

... On top of attracting negative press with alleged ethics violations, Zinke may have lied to White House officials when summoned for his scolding. CNN reports that during the meeting Zinke was asked if there were any other potential issues, and he failed to mention a forthcoming report on his misuse of travel privileges ...

Midway through the first year of his presidency, Donald Trump had an idea. Wouldn't it be fun, he told an associate, to revive his hit NBC reality show "The Apprentice" inside the White House, using his own staffers as the contestants and the West Wing as his board room? ...

After .. a year in office, the President has grown more comfortable in his new role as producer in chief, reverting to his old ways and embracing the chaos while delighting in the fact that the nation is now his captive audience ...

... people who know Trump say he dislikes the appearance of being constrained by his advisers more than he dislikes actually being constrained.

... many of the people he's identified as his second string share the trait of appearing on television frequently. Trump, who has sometimes viewed himself as a casting director in filling his administration with an eye to candidates who "look the part," has taken note of commentators who praise him consistently ...

He did his last slavering Trump-duty, firing McCabe. Now Trump will-- after a few more humiliations-- fire him.

we shouldn't care too much; but McCabe (for example) claims that it is part of a cover-up, in which case the actual expulsions may be quite informative; third and fourth possibilities include that the White House is really occupied by a lunatic or by a would-be tyrant, and the actually sequence then might also be informative

Mere speculation about the future won't help us at all, but there are some genuine dangers here, involving the escalating chaos and its effects on our country and the world, that deserve continuing public attention
