In an interview with CNN’s Pamela Brown, former FBI Director Andrew McCabe revealed that President Donald Trump was completely obsessed with McCabe’s wife.

During a 2015 campaign for the state senate, McCabe’s wife Jill accepted a contribution from political action committee for then-Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe. Because McAuliffe was an ally of the Clintons in the past, Trump decided it meant McCabe was working against him. McCabe, however, worked against Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election with the FBI investigation into the email server, but Trump never cared about the facts. Instead, he was seemingly fixated by McCabe’s wife.

In at last four occasions, Trump taunted him about it being a “mistake or “problem,” and called the man’s wife a “loser.” Trump even raised the issue with former FBI Director James Comey at one point, “Out of the blue,” he told CNN’s Pamela Brown Friday. Trump would say things “like, ‘What’s wrong with that deputy director of yours?'” The comment implied that somehow McCabe was politically motivated against Trump, which McCabe said is “absolutely not true.”

“In May, when Director Comey was fired and I had my own interactions with the President, he brought up my wife every time I ever spoke to him,” McCabe told Brown. Each time McCabe pushed back. “Of course, I disagreed with him. I don’t see my wife’s decision to try to enter public life to help her community (have) greater access to healthcare as a mistake or a problem.”

He also confirmed that Trump demanded to know who McCabe voted for in the 2016 election in their first meeting after firing Comey.

3. That, and the fact that McCabe, someone he perceived as working for *him*

(since he seems to think the federal government belongs to him and its employees are his employees), was married to someone who ran for public office as a Democrat and received donations from a PAC associated with Evil Hillary, and this suggested that McCabe would be disloyal to him, which is all he cares about.

2. My first thought was Trump made a move on Jill McCabe and was rebuffed, so

he retaliated with his usual petty and vindictive attacks to ruin her and her family. She's a pretty woman, a former Swedish Olympic athlete, and Trump has repeatedly bragged (in lurid details) about how he likes to go after the wives of men who have upset his fragile ego. In this case Trump got a twofer by ruining McCabe and denying him his pension, he also got his revenge on Jill McCabe by making sure that she and her family will suffer an uncertain economic future.
