It sure looks like it to me this weekend. If so, hang on to the handrail tightly. It's gonna be a rough ride for a while.
The Cambridge Analyitica stories look to me to be pretty damning for the Trumpsters. McCabe and Comey appear to be ready to blow their whistles loudly. The Stormy Daniels thing looks to be about to blow up, too.
Trump's on edge and tweeting stupidly, given the situation.
I dunno, but things look pretty promising for chaos shortly.
Watch the Sunday news shows, I think.

(146,286 posts)In fact, I think everything's about to blow up and soon. I just hope the explosion doesn't cause too much peripheral damage.
There is just so much noise this weekend already. I suspect that a lot of people who usually take the weekend off are on the job right now. Even Trump stayed at the White House.
When the tide suddenly goes way out unexpectedly, head for high ground right away. Something's coming in soon.

The blue wave is huge, but the Russian blockade is unchecked.

The system is rigged beyond typical Republican cheating. Way beyond it.

(9,670 posts)The generals: Kelly, McMaster, and Mattis all have one foot out the door. Jarvanka is on thin ice.
Not to mention the fact that the Congressional Republicans got everything they wanted: tax "reform". They've been oddly silent ever since. Only the shenanigans of Nunes & Co. have elicited any attention, and then only momentarily.
Sure, we may be one breath away from Trump firing Rosenstein, or Sessions, or Mueller, and that would set off some catastrophic reverberations. I firmly believe that the "good guys" have a foolproof plan in place to obviate the damage wrought by such a potential constitutional crisis. But we'll have to endure it in real time, and it could get real stressful.
It would also be the perfect time for those who wish us ill to take full advantage. It's bloodcurdlingly chilling even considering such a notion, but it's viable and real.

(4,858 posts)...he is a Dominionist, and very determined. He and his allies would work inexorably towards a quite literal theocracy, and his lack of drama might make his path all the smoother. We might actually get nostalgic for Trump...

Have not been very optimistic about any of this

(54,355 posts)It took a total collapse of support for the regimes of the Shah of Iran, Nikolai II of Russia, Louis XVI of France, Charles I of England or even Richard Nixon of the USA to fall. Trump currently enjoys way more support within the USA than any of those characters did when they fall.
This will drag on a while longer.

(3,724 posts)eventually collapse? yes. There's no way to sustain this chaos over time.
But so much damage will happen to this country in the meantime.
