If they want to keep their seats, they can't say anything that will turn off the Rabid Trump supporters. If they do, they will be primaried by a Roy Moore-type, which would be good for us, but bad for the normal Republicans.

The ones who can and do speak out are the pundits at places like National Review and Weekly Standard who came out against Trump early.

It's not what they say/speak out - it's how they vote that tells you their true soul:

Vote down health care
Vote for tax cuts for the rich
Vote against consumer protection
Vote to weaken bank laws
Vote to weaken control over investments

etc., etc.

They're protecting what they want - they don't give a rat's ass about the majority/middle class.

Every discouraged Repub who can't stand the racism, sexism, xenophobia, bigotry, christofascism, and assault rifle idolatry they see as we see, needs a little less encouragement every day to switch sides.

Keep working on them. I've had a church-going coworker admit grudgingly they couldn't look their daughter in the face and come up with a reason anybody could vote Republican. I don't know for certain how he voted in '16, but I know for certain how he's not voting in '18. And I'm keeping the lines open to make a recommendation or two.
