And then there's THIS:
Cambridge Analytica: links to Moscow oil firm and St Petersburg university
https://www.theguardian.com/news/2018/mar/17/cambridge-academic-trawling-facebook-had-links-to-russian-university
Energy firm Lukoil, which is now on the US sanctions list and has been used as a vehicle of government influence, saw a presentation on the firms work in 2014. It began with a focus on voter suppression in Nigeria, and Cambridge Analytica also discussed micro-targeting individuals on social media during elections.
The revelations come at a time of intense US scrutiny of Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election, with 13 Russians criminally charged last month with interfering to help Donald Trump.
In Britain, concerns about Russian propaganda have been mounting, with the prime minister, Theresa May, recently attacking Russia for spreading fake news, accusing Moscow of attempts to weaponise information and influence polls.
And THIS:
Facebook employs psychologist whose firm sold data to Cambridge Analytica
https://www.theguardian.com/news/2018/mar/18/facebook-cambridge-analytica-joseph-chancellor-gsr
Joseph Chancellor was one of two founding directors of Global Science Research (GSR), the company that harvested Facebook data using a personality app under the guise of academic research and later shared the data with Cambridge Analytica.
He was hired to work at Facebook as a quantitative social psychologist around November 2015, roughly two months after leaving GSR, which had by then acquired data on millions of Facebook users.
Chancellor is still working as a researcher at Facebooks Menlo Park headquarters in California, where psychologists frequently conduct research and experiments using the companys vast trove of data on more than 2 billion users.
It is not known how much Chancellor knew of the operation to harvest the data of more than 50 million Facebook users and pass their information on to the company that went on to run data analytics for Donald Trumps presidential campaign.
Chancellor was a director of GSR along with Aleksandr Kogan, a more senior Cambridge University psychologist who is said to have devised the scheme to harvest Facebook data from people who used a personality app that was ostensibly acquiring data for academic research.
On Friday, Facebook announced it had suspended both Kogan and Cambridge Analytica from using the platform, pending an investigation.
Facebook said in a statement Kogan gained access to this information in a legitimate way and through the proper channels but did not subsequently abide by our rules because he passed the information on to third parties. Kogan maintains that he did nothing illegal and had a close working relationship with Facebook.

you read an awful lot into my statement. Wow, just wow.
thank you for internet 'splaining my post.
and if anyone is using a "broad brush" you did.
you know you could have just been polite and asked me first before making a grossly ignorant assumption about me and the post, but lashing out is so much easier, right?
damn, just damn you are an amazement.
and as a result, you will now be blocked.

(51,565 posts)and I am certain he and his team have a ton of info already! Think about it...if you and I knew about it, don't you think Mueller did before us? He is investigating cyber/tech stuff and collusion and hacking so go figure Fuckerberg's tiny, innocent company would be involved somehow...Jared, Erik Prince, The Mercers, Bannon, Giuliani and Assange all have C A ties.
Fuckerberg wears an "every man" t-shirt in the US for his image, however when he speaks to politicians and oligarchs in Russia and China he speaks their languages with ease and wears a suit and tie. He is one of the richest men in the world and THAT IS NOT and an "every man". He needs to be sued, investigated, fined, whatever is a fitting punishment if he was involved in collusion in any way possible.

(15,682 posts)He may not have had a pony in the 2016 race but he sure as hell had a profit margin to look after. That is one young and greedy, bad actor. I'm surprised anyone buys the youth and feigned ignorance he's peddling.

It would be irresponsible to push something this important with little sleep. We're going to take a beat, and be back when we feel the data's bulletproof.
In the meantime, enjoy @HILLARYCL1NT0N, my favorite @parscale bot...
