LOGAN - Filmmaker Michael Moore was in Logan County on Wednesday to discuss the historic West Virginia teacher strike and the current political climate in the state with state Sen. Richard Ojeda, D-Logan, who is also a current U.S. House 3rd District candidate. The two talked for hours at Hot Cup, a locally owned coffee shop in town.
.......
According to West Virginia MetroNews, Ojeda said Moore asked for the meeting to discuss the teachers' strike. Ojeda said while he disagrees with Moore on multiple issues, he is willing to sit down with anyone.
The meeting stirred up controversy with many, including the West Virginia Republican Party chairwoman, who voiced her opinions on social media.
The disagreement started Wednesday night when Melody Potter criticized Ojeda for engaging with "liberal buddy" Michael Moore.
"West Virginia Republicans have never been afraid to take on liberal Democrats like State Senator Richard Ojeda," Potter wrote. "His meeting with an ultra liberal like Michael Moore is a slap in the face to every hardworking West Virginian."
..........
According to The Associated Press, Ojeda said the attack represents "new lows coming from a scared leadership."

(This is an important Congressional race! It will be an open seat that can be turned from red to blue, as the GOP incumbent is not running for re-election. Ojeda has a lot of traction and his profile was raised considerably during the recent, successful statewide teachers' strike. DUers who want to help can learn more and/or donate here:
