Savannah Georgia ruined Mike Pence's St. Patricks Day in the best way possible

By Alex Bollinger · Monday, March 19, 2018

Mike Pence was in Savannah on Saturday. The Georgia city hosted the South’s largest St. Patrick’s Day parade.

He was expecting to see a lot of green as he marched in the parade, but he also saw a lot of rainbows.

Protestors holding signs that said “Mike Pence Is A Homophobe” and “Hate has no home here” waved rainbow flags.

Some people protested for other causes, too.

gut feeling, he does protest so much about disliking gays, just leads me to believe he fears what he is. But like I said it is my personal opinion.

Hasn't been for many years (since 95). He is evangelical. He has referred to himself as 'Evangelical Catholic' which oddly actually is Protestant meaning he identifies with the origins of the Christian church. Pence and those in that group believe the Protestant Reformation was part of the illumination of the holy spirit.
He does not identify as Catholic in the modern, or even post modern definition and he does not attend Catholic services

Of course, they were going to bring out the rainbow flags.

How did Pence not see this coming?

Or, maybe he assumed that they're not gay-friendly? Charleston is pretty gay, as well. But, given his tiny IQ, he probably thought all those rainbow flags symbolized the leprechaun's pot at the end of the rainbow.

I don’t know enough about the city’s politics to comment.

I had to check to see if the Mayor is a GOPr, and he is. But I wouldn’t put too much into to that.

The fact is that Savannah is like an east coast version of New Orleans, but with more southern charm and gentility.

It’s not as big a gay Mecca as NO or Key West, but it’s up there.

The last report I saw was in November, 2016 and at that time there were more than 50,000 donations to Planned Parenthood in Mike Pence's name.

Anybody have an update? I can't find anything now.

I didn't go anywhere near Pence and had no desire to do so.

I did read in the local paper that the city of Savannah had tried to ban even hand held signs in the "enhanced security zone" surrounding Pence, but withdrew the requirement on the threat of an ACLU lawsuit.

And this story is a good reason why. Also, my wife's cousin lived in Savannah for many years until he died. He was one of my favorite people on this planet. We visited for a week every summer for many years but have only been once since then. Man I could (and often did) listen to him talk about Savannah's history for hours at a time. I miss him more than I miss a some of my own relatives.
